sweet tunes that caress my soul

Bands
Arcturus
Melodic black metal; kinda theatrical, very different.

Cynic
Great band that mixed death metal with a lot of progressive rock; no longer together, unfortunately.

Dead Can Dance
A very good doomy, new age band, well known for using rare and old instruments.

Dream Theater
Progressive rock band; great guitar and bass riffs, excellent drums and very good keyboards; the vocals suck tho...

Nice doom metal band, with decent female vocals; 'Masquerade' is a cool album.
Edge of Sanity
Great melodic death metal with awesome growls and male clean vocals; possibly comparable to Opeth.

Emperor
One of the few black metal bands that really stands out; very melodic, epic songs.

Empirium
Slow doom with nice flute melodies, acoustic guitars and keyboards; it has electric moments as well. Deep male vocals as well as black metal like screams.

Esoteric
Really SLOW doom metal with nice growls and cool guitar riffs.

Nightwish
Finnish doom metal band with strong heavy metal influences, that make them different from the rest; sucky male clean vocals that are compensated with a great mezzo soprano voice.

Novembers Doom
Very good doom metal band; nice guitars, cool growls and a great soprano voice.

Orphaned Land
Awesome death metal band from Israel with huge oriental influences; constantly use of sitars.

Kari Rueslåtten
Ex-vocalist from The 3rd and the Mortal; one of the greatest female voices ever. Sings in both english and norwegian.

Sirrah
Doom metal band with both male and female clean vocals as well as some growls; some viola melodies here and there. Nothing really new but they do have nice songs.

Stille Volk
Really cool ancient pagan music band with some little annoying but good male vocals; lots of flutes, acoustic guitars and weird percussions. All french lyrics.

Storm
A project with Kari Rueslåtten, as well as members from Satyricon and Darkthrone. Black metal versions of traditional norwegian songs; really nice.

Tiamat
Doom metal with a really unique touch, highly melodic; recently a little more rock-like.
