the 3rd and the Mortal

I had stopped myself from really getting into the 3rd and the Mortal because the only album I had so far was Tears laid in Earth and I knew that Kari wasn't the vocalist anymore and I believed no one could ever top what she did for the music. And I was sooooo wrong... That is one fine album, that's for sure; it proved that metal could be as melodic and enchanting as the sweetest ballad, as well as it is strong, heavy, powerful.

But this band travelled even further. They took their music and stretched it far beyond the boundaries of the metal, atmospheric and progressive styles. And along with my favourite vocalist and ultimate goddess, Ann-Mari Edvarsen, they crafted a complex, enigmatic sound that just makes you fly. Listening to Nightswan, Painting on Glass, and the mighty In this Room, you will feel rage, sadness, joy, despair, hope and amazement. The 3rd and the Mortal has my heart and my loyalty, hardly others could touch me the way they have.

Now, the only thing that this band lacks to represent the sound that I am looking for is a more melodic and harmonic presence; it could also use a spark of strength here and there. But in spite of this, it is truly, truly close...
